Today, our Mayor, Cllr. Mel Buckley, had the privilege of presenting donations from her charity fund to local schools and community groups. These organisations play a vital role in enriching our town, and we are grateful for their dedication and hard work.

Last Friday, the Mayor joined Jo Danson, Community Heritage Officer, and Mike Taylor, Flintshire County Council Coastal Ranger, to celebrate the final installations of the Off Flint Legacy Project!
One of the installations features a beautiful bench and information board, honoring the rich history of the fishing industry along our estuary. The other highlights the vital role Courtaulds played in shaping the heritage of our town, as one of its largest employers.
A huge thank you to everyone who contributed to this incredible project! We hope you’ll take a moment to visit and appreciate these meaningful installations, set against the stunning backdrop of our local surroundings.
The Mayor, Councillor Mel Buckley had the pleasure of presenting the Coronation Medals to Flint RNLI, recognising their dedication to saving lives at sea.
A special congratulations to Bill, who was awarded a Certificate of Appreciation for his remarkable contributions to the BBC programme Saving Lives at Sea and his outstanding work on Trim. His dedication and hard work is truly inspiring.

Today the Mayor, Councillor M. Buckley welcomed Mandy & Beth from Giddos Gift to make a donation to the charity, which is a extremely worthy cause helping to improve the lives of teenagers & young adults suffering from cancer.
This evening we will light up the Town Hall ‘Blue’ in memory of Jordan Giddins, also known as Giddo, the inspiration behind the wonderful the local charity that brings hope and joy to young adults and teenagers living with cancer.
Then tomorrow, the Town Hall will also be joining Giddo’s Gift in painting the Town ‘Gold’ to remember those taken too soon from childhood cancer. By going ‘Gold’, the Council hope to raise awareness.

The Mayor, Councillor M. Buckley, was privileged to visit Ysgol Maes Hyfryd on Friday, 13th September. During the visit, the Mayor spent time with both pupils and staff, met with the Pupil Council, and enjoyed a tour of the school. Councillor Buckley also enjoyed chatting with many pupils and staff and even took part in a performing arts lesson! Ysgol Maes Hyfryd is an excellent facility within our town, providing outstanding opportunities for students.
The Mayor, Cllr. Mel Buckley, had the pleasure of judging the Flint Scarecrow Competition on Saturday, 7th September alongside fellow judges. With so many amazing entries from our residents, it was a tough decision picking the winners.
A big thank you to the amazing competition organisers, Nathan Griffiths and Kristy Smith, for their hard work and dedication in making the Flint Scarecrow Competition a success.
The Scarecrow Competition Winner Award Presentation 2024 will take place on Saturday, 21st September, at the Town Hall and Cllr. Mel Buckley will have the honour of presenting the awards.

The Mayor took part in the Annual Charity Bowling Match on Sunday, competing against the Flint RNLI lifeboat team.
We’re thrilled to announce that £610.45 was raised for a fantastic cause, and congratulations to the Lifeboat team for regaining the cup.

The Mayor, Councillor M. Buckley on behalf of Flint Town Council is hosting an Armed Forces Day Flag Ceremony on Saturday 29th June, 2024 at 10.30 am at the Cenotaph to commemorate the service of men and women in the British Armed Forces.
Armed Forces Day is a chance to show support for the people who make up the Armed Forces community, from currently serving troops to service families, veterans and cadets.
As well as marking the contribution of service personnel past and present, Armed Forces Day also aims to raise public awareness of the military and the roles they undertake in Britain and around the world.
Residents of Flint are invited to attend the ceremony to mark this important day. Lights refreshments will be served in the Town Hall after the ceremony.
