Weed Busters on the Move!

This morning our Weed Busting Team were out on Chester Road, tackling weeds and helping to keep our town looking neat and welcoming ✨

📅 The next session is Thursday 4th September — we’ll be tackling weeds on the roads near the Castle, continuing our community clean-up efforts to keep the town tidy 🌼.

It’s amazing what can be achieved when we come together as a community 💚

Mayoral Visit to Flint Town United

The Mayor and Mayoress spent a fantastic Saturday afternoon watching Flint Town United FC take on Cardiff Met.

It was an exciting match full of action and plenty of goals, with Flint coming out on top 4–2! ⚽👏

Thank you to Darryl Williams and everyone at the club for the kind invitation, and for the continuing, valued role Flint Town United plays in our community.

Wishing the team the very best of luck for the rest of the season!

RNLI Charity Match hosted by Oakenholt Bowling Club

The Mayor, Councillor R. Davies, the Mayoress, Councillor N. Davies and Town Councillors had a fantastic time taking part in the RNLI Charity Match hosted by Oakenholt Bowling Club. A huge thank you to everyone who helped make the day such a success!

Special thanks go to those who worked so hard organising the food and drinks, to the card markers for their valuable advice 🃏, and to Steve for creating the beautiful presentation cup. We’re also incredibly grateful to all the players and spectators for your support and great company throughout the day.

It was a truly enjoyable and memorable event — and together we raised an amazing £755.24 for our local RNLI!

Donation from the PACT fund – Thank you!

The Mayor, Councillor R. Davies, was delighted to be presented with a cheque for just under £250 towards the Weed Busting project set up by the Town Council from PCSO Emma Pugh — a generous grant made possible through the PACT Fund.

PACT (Partners and Communities Together) is a local initiative that brings police, councils, and communities together to identify and tackle issues that matter most to residents. Through this support, we’re able to launch community-driven projects like our upcoming Weed Busting Project, starting later this month.

The funding will help cover essential equipment and printing costs, making a real difference on the ground.

A huge thank you to PCSO Pugh for all her help and support — a great example of us working together for our town!

Mayoral Visit to Flint Town United Ladies

On Sunday 3rd August, the Mayor, Councillor R. Davies, and Mayoress, Councillor N. Davies, had the pleasure of attending a pre-season friendly match to support Flint Town United Ladies as they took on Haslingden Ladies, a strong side from the English league.

Despite an early goal from the visitors, Flint showed incredible determination, teamwork, and skill, equalising early in the second half and going on to secure a well-deserved 2-1 victory!

It was an exciting and inspiring match, and a true credit to the players, coaching staff, and everyone involved with the club. The quality of football on display was outstanding—and it’s fantastic to see the women’s game thriving right here in our community.

Well done to all involved—you’ve made Flint proud!

Official opening of St Kentigern Hospice’s new Superstore at Flintshire Retail

The Deputy Mayor, Councillor E. Jones, and her Consort, Mrs V. Nevitt, were honoured to officially open St Kentigern Hospice’s new Superstore at Flintshire Retail Park on Saturday 26th July.

The superstore is the largest retail outlet for the hospice to date and offers a wide range of quality pre-loved items — including furniture, TVs, clothing, electricals, and more.

Opening Hours:

Monday–Saturday: 9am–5pm

Sunday: 10am–4pm

All funds raised support St Kentigern Hospice’s free palliative care services, which benefit patients and families across Denbighshire, West Flintshire, and East Conwy.

We’re proud to support this vital charity and encourage residents to visit the new superstore.

A wonderful addition to Flint — thank you to everyone involved!

Thank you McDonald’s Flint

A big thank you to Bethan and her colleagues from McDonald’s Flint, who kindly visited the Age & Dementia Friendly Coffee Morning today to donate tea, coffee, biscuits, hot chocolate, and other lovely treats for our guests to enjoy!

The Deputy Mayor, Councillor E. Jones, welcomed Bethan and her team, and expressed our sincere gratitude on behalf of the group.

This group relies on kind donations and community support, and we are incredibly thankful to Flint McDonald’s for their generosity.

The Coffee Morning is such an important space for residents living with dementia, along with their families, friends, carers, and those who may simply need some company.

The joy and comfort this group brings to so many is truly heartwarming — and it’s support like this that helps make it possible.

Thank you once again to Bethan and everyone at Flint McDonald’s!

Mayoral Visit to Llys Raddington Extra Care Scheme

The Mayor, Councillor R. Davies, and the Mayoress, Councillor N. Davies, had the pleasure of visiting Llys Raddington Extra Care Scheme.

They were warmly welcomed by the wonderful staff and residents, and had the opportunity to learn more about this outstanding facility in the heart of our community.

Llys Raddington provides high-quality extra care apartments for rent, including homes specially adapted for older people living with dementia. It offers a safe, supportive environment where care and support are tailored to individual needs.

It was truly inspiring to see the care, dignity, and strong sense of community that defines Llys Raddington.

The Mayor and Mayoress thoroughly enjoyed their visit and would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who took the time to speak with them.

Thank you for all you do — we are lucky to have Llys Raddington here in Flint!

Mayoral Visit to Teksol

The Mayor, Cllr. Russ Davies and Mayoress, Cllr. Norma Davies had the pleasure of visiting local business Teksol. It was a fascinating and valuable visit that gave us real insight into the important work they do and the vital role they play in our local economy.

They had meaningful conversations about the challenges many small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are facing, and discussed the importance of building stronger networks between local businesses. It was encouraging to exchange ideas on how we can support and grow this within our community.

A heartfelt thank you to the amazing team at Teksol for the warm welcome and for sharing your experiences with us — your contribution to Flint’s economy and community is truly appreciated.
