Calling all garden enthusiasts! Whether you have a green thumb or just love the beauty of nature, join us for the annual Flower, Fruit & Vegetable Show in Flint. This is the perfect opportunity to showcase your best blooms, freshest veggies, and juiciest fruits.

🌟 Event Highlights are detailed on the poster and we are pleased to include a children’s section this year.

🕒 11am until 1pm, Judging at 12 noon.

Mayor’s Inauguration

The Mayor’s Inauguration was held on Friday 17th May at the Town Hall. Councillor M. Buckley was duly elected as Town Mayor 2024/25 and Councillor R. Davies was duly elected as Deputy Mayor 2024/25.

During the ceremony, the newly elected Mayor presented the retiring Mayor, Councillor B. Goldsborough, with the traditional plaque and the past Mayor’s badge, honoring his outstanding service during his term of office in 2023/24.

Additionally, retired Mayor, Councillor B. Golsborough, honored the retiring Mace Bearer, Mayor’s Cadet J. Thomas and the retiring Mayor’s Chaplain, Rev. R. Hainsworth with the traditional plaques to acknowledge their dedicated service throughout his year in office.

The Leader of the Council, Cllr. M. Perfect made a special presentation to our very own Jade Jones OBE as she prepares to compete in the Olympics 2024. Jade was presented with a Welsh flag, symbolizing our strong support and pride as she represents us on the global stage.

The Mayor’s Mace Bearer for her term of office is Cadet, Sgt. C. Buxton and the Mayor’s Chaplain is Rev. R. Hainsworth.

OAK TREE PLANTING AT FLINT CASTLE

Today the Mayor was asked by Flintshire Countryside & Coastal Services to plant a Oak Tree outside the Castle. 🌳

Planting oak trees not only adds to the natural beauty of an area but also contributes to the local ecosystem by providing habitats for various wildlife species. It’s heartening to see efforts being made to enhance the environment and support biodiversity. 🌳

The Mayor presents donations to local food banks

On Friday 1st December, 2023, the Mayor of Flint, Cllr. Ben Goldsborough, joined with staff at Sainsbury’s Flint to hand out two cheques worth £450 to Flint Parish Church of St Mary’s and St Thomas’s and Refurbs Flint. These two community groups offer food pantries to residents who are struggling with the cost of living crisis. This forms the first two donations by Flint Town Council of the monies raised during July’s Flint Festival.

Sainsbury’s Flint added to the donations and contributed an additional £300 worth of food products to both food pantries. A big thank you to Sainsbury’s.

Mayor’s Engagements

The Mayor has been over the summer, attending many events including a Charity Duck Race, a Citizen Advice Day at the Town Hall, Flint Festival events, the Chair of Flintshire County Council’s Civic Service, Fit, Fed and Read event, a Basket Ball Wales Tournament, the RNLI Charity Bowls Match and Charity Car Wash.

Mayor’s Civic Service – Sunday 2nd July

The Mayor, Councillor Ben Goldsborough held his Civic Service on Sunday 2nd July. The Service was held at St. Mary and St David Parish Church, the Service was preceded by a parade from the Town Hall. It was a delight to see so many residents lining the streets to watch the parade and it goes without saying, a big thank you to all who took part in the parade and to the Mayor’s Chaplin.

Armed Forces Day 2023

The Mayor and Deputy Mayor were privileged to host the Armed Forces Day ceremony this morning and wish to thank all who attended to honour and thank our Armed Forces past and present 🇬🇧

The Mayor welcomes School Councils to the Town Hall

The Mayor, Councillor Mrs. M. Perfect was delighted to welcome St. Mary’s School Council on Friday 24th March and Ysgol Pen Coch School Council on Friday 21st April to the Town Hall for a tour of the Council Chamber. As well as a tour, the Children were given a talk on the history of the Town Hall and were shown the Mayoral Robes and Chains. It was a privilege for the Mayor to meet the teachers and children of both schools and she looks forward to welcoming other schools in the coming weeks.
