NEW FUNDING AVAILABLE FOR FLINTSHIRE COMMUNITIES
The following types of organisations may apply for funds which provide or as seeking to provide access to community led services and community infrastructure for communities across Flintshire:
Voluntary and community groups
Community Councils / Town Councils
Registered Charities
Social enterprises, including companies limited by guarantees, CICs and Development Trusts, provided they operate on a not for profit basis (including credit unions). CICs by shares are excluded from this funding.·
Cooperatives
FREE garden packs for Community Organisations from Local Places for Nature – Keep Wales Tidy
Transform an unloved area into a garden that will benefit both nature and your community.
Each free package includes native plants, tools and materials to make your garden beautiful. Keep Wales Tidy will handle all of the ordering and deliveries, and our project officers will turn up to provide support on the ground to help you create your new nature space.
Our packages this year fall into three categories:
Starter packages
for community or volunteer groups looking to create small Food Growing Garden or Wildlife Gardens.
Development packages
for community-based organisations that are ready to take on a bigger project and build Food Growing or Wildlife Gardens.
Community orchard
Create an outdoor hub for your community – a space filled with fruit and nut trees, native plants and wildflowers, where people of all ages can come together.
Have your say on a Local Toilet Strategy for Flintshire County Council.
| Flintshire County Council has a responsibility to assess the community’s need for the provision of accessible toilets within the County. In May 2019 Flintshire County Council published a Local Toilet Strategy aiming to review the quality and quantity of local toilets throughout the county and to provide or facilitate the provision of clean, safe, accessible and sustainable toilets for residents and visitors to the County. To help review and identify need, the Council is seeking views of residents and visitors to the county. For the purpose of this survey and strategy, the term toilet includes changing facilities for babies and changing places facilities for people with disabilities. These can be located in public buildings such as libraries and community centres, private buildings such as cafes and shops as well as public toilets maintained by the council. Mayor’s Inauguration
The Mayor’s Inauguration was held on Friday 19th May at the Town Hall. Councillor B. Goldsborough was duly elected as Town Mayor 2023/24 and Councillor M. Buckley was duly elected as Deputy Mayor 2023/24.
The Mayor presented the retiring Mayor, Councillor M. Perfect with the traditional plaque and the past Mayor’s badge on behalf of the Councillors in recognition of her term of office, 2022/23. The retiring Mayoress, Councillor V. Perfect was presented with a bouquet.
Retired Mayor, Councillor M. Perfect presented the retiring Mace Bearer, Cadet, L. Ellis-Jones and the retiring Mayor’s Chaplin, Miss. I. Williams with a traditional plaque for recognition of the services they gave to the Mayor in her year of office.
Town Hall Defibrillator
The Flint & District Lions Club kindly donated a Defibrillator which has been erected on the rear of the Town Hall building, if required, Dial 999 and you will be issued with the cabinet code.
We have Defibrillator training / demonstration on Thursday 4th May at 1pm at the Town Hall, all are welcome to attend, please confirm your attendance with the office 01352 734414 or email townclerk@flinttowncouncil.gov.wales
Community Coffee Morning every Wednesday
Flint Town Hall hold a Community Coffee morning every Wednesday, between 10am and 12pm at the Town Hall.
Refreshments are provided free of charge.
If you are feeling isolated, want to meet new friends, have an opportunity to meet your community, pop in and enjoy a brew, biscuit and a chat.
Groups also welcome, young and old.
